Washoe County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Washoe County is August 7. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Washoe County School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/2 - 8/3: Teacher Professional Development Days
• 8/4: Teacher Work Day
• 8/7: First Day of School for Students
• 8/7 - 8/11: Kindergarten Testing Week
• 8/14: First Day for Kindergarten Students

September

• 9/1: Enrollment Count Day
• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/2 - 10/6: No School (Fall Break)
• 10/11: PSAT, End of Grading Period
• 10/20 - 10/26: Conference Week
• 10/27: No School (Nevada Day Observance)

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/21: End of Grading Period
• 12/22: No School for Students (Teacher Work Day)
• 12/25 - 1/12: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day)
• 1/16: School Resumes

February

• 2/19: No School (President's Day)

March

• 3/23: End of Grading Period
• 3/26 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)
