Dartmouth College Professors Accused Of 'Serious Misconduct'

All three were placed on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

HANOVER, NH — Three psychology professors at Dartmouth College were placed on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of "serious misconduct," the college said. Their access to campus was also restricted.

The three Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences professors who were placed on leave are Todd Heatherton, Bill Kelley and Paul Whalen, college spokeswoman Diana Lawrence said in a statement Wednesday.

The statement did not elaborate on the allegations, but said the college is engaged in a "thorough and impartial process that protects the rights of all parties and promote the safety of our campus community."

Emails were sent to the professors seeking comment. An email to Heatherton generated an automatic reply saying he is on sabbatical and isn't monitoring his account until September 2018.
