New Hampshire Motor Speedway Country Concert Challenged In Court

Here's why neighbors say the track can't host the three-day country music festival.

LOUDON, NH — Officials in Loudon signed off on a three-day country music festival next year at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway after the state learned it was losing a high-profile NASCAR race to Las Vegas. But neighbors are trying to kill the event, citing a 1989 agreement.

Several people who live near the track have gone to court to block the festival, saying a previous agreement bars the track from hosting concerts that aren't tied to racing events.

Jim Snyder, whose farm is near the Speedway, said in a news release in exchange for provisions that limited noise and controlled traffic, neighbors agreed to stop opposing the Speedway's expansion plans.
