Amherst Fire Responds To Reported Fire In Condo On Veterans Road

Amherst firefighters responded to a fire that extended from a fireplace, with firefighters from surrounding towns dispatched for mutual aid.

AMHERST, NH — Amherst Fire Rescue responded to Buck Meadow Condominiums on Veterans Road Sunday for a reported fire that extended from the fireplace into the walls of the home.

The caller reported everyone was evacuated from the building.

First arriving units asked for a second-alarm due to the number of attached units. The second-alarm dispatched several area towns for mutual aid to the scene and for station coverage.

Firefighters quickly determined the fire had not extended past the fireplace and canceled the second-alarm except for the units responding for station coverage.

The fire was reported under control within 20 minutes, and the Amherst Fire Department is handling the investigation.
