Chamber Seeks Nominations for Annual Business Awards

Destination: Souhegan Valley! is the theme of this year's dinner and celebration slated for mid-June.

AMHERST, NH - The Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations of those businesses and individuals who best exemplify the spirit and practices that make the Souhegan Valley a special place for living and doing business, according to a press statement.

Categories include Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year (businesses with 15 employees or less), Business Leader of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. An individual or company does not have to be a member of the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce to nominate a business or individual or to be selected for an award. Destination: Souhegan Valley is the theme of the 27th Annual Awards Dinner and Celebration for the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber takes this opportunity once a year to recognize the many wonderful businesses and the contributions of our community members through special awards. Businesses are nominated based on their involvement in the greater Souhegan Valley communities as volunteers, supporting the efforts of local charities and nonprofit organizations, and for being businesses held in high regard for their business practices.

The celebration will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at The Mile Away Restaurant, 52 Federal Hill Road in Milford.

A student from each of the five high schools within the Souhegan Valley who are leaders of their school’s FBLA clubs will be recognized for their leadership and involvement. New this year, the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce will also present two scholarships to high school seniors who plan to pursue further studies in a trade or profession. The Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce Leadership Scholarship will be for eligible seniors planning to enter a training for a trade or profession and hope to eventually become future business owners.

The Chamber hopes to grow the scholarship fund so that a scholarship may be presented to a senior from each of the five schools (Mascenic, Milford, Souhegan, Hollis Brookline and Wilton Lyndeborough Cooperative) in subsequent years. Businesses or individuals wishing to donate to the fund may do so by contacting Tracy Hutchins, President, at 603-673-4360.

The Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce promotes successful relationships for the business and civic community in the eleven towns of the Souhegan Valley.
