Father/Daughter Team Wins A&E Roastery's Earth Day Label Contest

Nearly one thousand votes cast in ten days for eight label designs

A&E Custom Coffee Roastery in Amherst is pleased to announce that the winner of the Earth Day Label Contest is Phillip McArdle and his ten-year-old daughter Alexis McArdle. The pair worked together to create their label design as a way to support the Colegio Evangelical Isaias Emmanuel in the Dominican Republic.

“My daughter, Alexis, and I made the label together. It was a project to show support for my dad who is a retired school administrator volunteering time and resources to help a school in the Dominican Republic,” the elder McArdle said. “He found the school while doing a short-term mission trip through G.O. Ministries. It is a K-8th grade school and the money will fund teacher development and technology."

In ten days, nearly one thousand votes were cast by A&E’s Facebook fans for the eight design submissions. The McArdles activated their community at the Crossway Christian Church in Nashua to put them over the top.

A&E’s Earth Day Blend coffee will go on sale on April 1. It will be available through May 15 in the café and online. For every bag sold, A&E Coffee will donate $2 to the McArdle’s charity of choice: the Colegio Evangelical Isaias Emmanuel in the Dominican Republic. In addition, A&E will match the donation, meaning, for every bag of Earth Day Blend sold, $4 will be donated to the school.

“Our heartiest congratulations to Phillip and Alexis,” said Emeran Langmaid, owner of A&E Coffee. “We’ve already put the label into production and we’re excited to start selling it next month. It’s such a great story and we hope to sell a lot of the Earth Day Blend so we can make a nice donation to their school.

The seven artists who submitted designs are: Valerie Hart, Jessica Collin, Barbara Warnke, Samantha Grenier, Joseph MacDonald, Shaun Nelson and Andy Van Cleave.

The limited-edition Earth Day Blend will be on sale in the Amherst café, located in Carriage Depot at 135 Route 101A in Amherst, and online at www.aeroastery.com
