Halloween Trick-Or-Treating Is On In Amherst

Amherst Village historically has been a popular spot for trick-or-treaters — but police are asking 2020 revelers to stay in their hometowns.

AMHERST, NH — Trick-or-treating this Halloween will be taking place in Amherst, according to police and the board of selectmen.

The board approved trick-or-treating times in town from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.

In past years, Amherst village can see as many as 2,000 trick-or-treaters from town and surrounding communities.

The police communications department is encouraging trick-or-treaters, parents, and those who will be hosting trick-or-treaters, to familiarize themselves with New Hampshire state health and Centers for Disease Control Halloween event guidelines. As well, residents from other communities should stay local this year, police said.

"We respectfully ask that people from outside of Amherst (to) also follow this suggestion and trick-or-treat in their own towns and neighborhoods," police said on Facebook. "We also ask participants to be courteous and to visit houses who have their outside lights on and have made it obvious they are participating in Halloween."
