John Bachman Laid to Rest

John Bachman's life celebrated: Friends and family members of John Bachman, the retired town fire chief who was killed on Dec. 23 when he was struck by a driver while checking his mailbox, gathered to pay their last respects and celebrate his life.

Take it slow to work this morning: The Amherst area received up to 3 inches of snow from the latest storm that hit New Hampshire on Sunday night into Monday morning, which could make for some icy conditions for the morning commute. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service is calling for bitterly cold temperatures on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and another snow storm on Thursday.

Town offices to close for New Year's Day: The Amherst town offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year's Day, but will reopen on Thursday. The public schools are also scheduled to reopen on Thursday following the Christmas break.
