John Ferraro's Life to be Celebrated Today

Town offices to be closed on Wednesday for New Year's Day; more snow on the way later this week.

New Year's Eve is here: Today is Tuesday, Dec. 31, the last day of 2013 which is also known as New Year's Eve. The Town Offices, public library and the transfer station will be open today, but will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year's Day.

More snow on the way:
According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, the Amherst area and much of New Hampshire could get walloped with several inches of snow on Thursday and Friday. Be sure to stay with Amherst Patch to get the latest information about this winter storm.

John Ferraro's life to be celebrated:
John P. Ferraro, 62, of Amherst, who was killed in a motor vehicle accident on Route 101A in Amherst on Friday, Dec. 27, will be laid to rest today. Here is his obituary.

Fatal hit and run driver due back in court:
Travis Hobbs, 20, of Mont Vernon, who is charged with negligent homicide after police say he struck and killed John Bachman with his car is scheduled to return to Nashua District Court for a probable cause hearing on Monday, Jan. 6.
