Why are you seeking elective office?
To continue the work of my previous 8 years in maintaining and refining NH's position as the best place to live and raise a family.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The budget shortfall caused by Covid. There are others but must take a back seat to a balanced budget. I will demand and vote to pass a budget which recognizes the temporary deficit and sets a course to put NH back to a strong, healthy, and viable financial condition.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
My record unlike that of the opposition will display the fair, conservative, viable, practical, and responsible actions I have supported to maintain the NH Advantage without the need for a general tax. Decrease unnecessary regulation and licensing where advisable, protect the retirement system for our state and local employees, and challenge the creation of more government.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
They have failed to fully support efforts to ensure the equal education for all NH students, failed to resolve the critical mental health issues, insisted that the only solution to a problem is additional funding rather than creative solutions, proposed a 13% increase in state spending, forcing consumers to pay 30 million in increased electric rates, allowing males in female sports competition and their locker rooms, and restricting potential employers from using criminal background checks for potential employees.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform
The issue for NH is to maintain the fiscal, healthcare, educational foundation(s) costs of living, and safety for our citizens. At the end of the day to leave NH better than we found it. Simply said but difficult not impossible to accomplish
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Elected for 4 terms. Placed civilians on the police accreditation/certification council to insure openness, secured the ability of acupuncture providers to perform drug recovery procedure, assisted local and state vineyards to increase their retail opportunities. Assisted in reducing a state budget by over 1 billion dollars without adversely affecting services.
The best advice ever shared with me was …
To listen more than to speak.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am a Viet Nam Era Navy veteran, 70 year resident, and teared when we lost "The Old Man" the icon of a true New Hampshireite. I'm running for all of us not some of us.
