T-Storms Knock Out Power To Thousands In NH

Warning issued for Merrimack, Hillsborough Counties; 60 mph winds gusts expected; electric companies are reporting thousands without power.

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire’s electric companies are reporting close to 3,000 customers without power this afternoon as rain and thunderstorms make their way into the state. This afternoon’s boomers and sprinkles were the first part of the storm which is expected to run through the evening. The National Weather Service has posted flash flood warnings through Tuesday morning.

At 5:41 p.m., the National Weather Service upgraded the system with a "severe thunderstorm warning" alert through 6:45 p.m. on June 19, 2017, warning of wind gusts of up to 60 mph. Residents should expect damage to trees and power lines. The storm is moving at around 45 mph northeast.

Eversource reported more than 3,100 customers without power at just before 5 p.m. on June 19, 2017, mostly in the western part of the state. Most of the outages are relatively small including ones in Bedford, Hudson, and Loudon. Others that are large include 85 percent of the town of Deering and more than 800 customers in Chesterfield. Other large outages were reported in Hillsborough and Weare.

Outages reported by Unitil in Newton and Liberty Utilities in Charlestown were cleared earlier.
