Tree Lighting Weekend, Financial Aid Night and GOP Meeting

Planning your week? Here are some things you need to know to get it started.

Planning Board. The Amherst Planning Board will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Room 202, the Information Center at Souhegan High School, 412 Boston Post Road. On the agenda is further discussion about the temporary lighting of Bean Road Fields. Get the full agenda on the town website.

Tree lighting weekend. This Friday through Sunday is the annual town tree lighting festival, a weekend-long event jam packed with events including craft fairs, breakfasts with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a spaghetti supper with the Lions Club, Santa on a fire truck and so much more. All events are free, unless a cost is noted in the schedule below. Get the full schedule of events here.

Amherst GOP. The Amherst Republicans will meet at 8 a.m. Dec. 7 at Joey’s Diner on Route 101A. Guest speaker will be William C. Martel, associate professor of international security at Tufts University's Fletcher School, and author of “Victory in War: Foundations of Modern Military Policy.” More information on www.amherstrepublicans.org.

Cooperative School Board meeting. The Souhegan Cooperative School Board has a meeting scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. in Room 202, the Information Center at Souhegan High School. The agenda is not yet posted to the District website. 

Financial aid night. Getting ready to start sending kids to college? It can be very expensive, but there is help out there. Learn more by attending a financial aid night in the Souhegan High School theatre on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Get your questions answered and learn more about the financial aid process.
