Use Facebook to Donate to Victims of Typhoon Haiyan
Morning news and notes for Thursday, Nov. 14.

Full moon hike. Join the Peabody Mill Environmental Center in Amherst for a full moon hike on Sunday, Nov. 17, starting at 6 p.m. Listen to stories and a walk in the woods along easy paths that accommodate people of all ages. Bring a flashlight to help you navigate uneven terrain. Leonids Meteor Shower may be seen during this time. Cost is $8 for Amherst residents, $10 for non-residents; and $20 for an Amherst family, $25 for a non-resident Family
Submit your work now. Time is running out for you to submit your original artwork to the PTA's Reflections Program at the Middle School. Deadline is Friday, Nov. 22. All participating students who enter will have their named entered in a drawing for one of three $250 gift cards. This year's theme is "Believe, Dream, Inspire". Reflect on the theme. Create an original work. Be recognized. There are two large bins located in the Art Room and in the Front Office. Use Facebook for good. If you didn't log in to Facebook on Wednesday, or if you weren't paying close attention, you may have missed a new, temporary addition to the page. The American Red Cross and Facebook have teamed up to allow Facebook users to quickly and easily donate $10 to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Lego drop-in time. The Amherst Town Library invites children ages 5 and older to stop in and build for 2 minutes or two hours during their Lego drop-in program from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15. Feel free to bring a creation of your own to show. Creations that are built at the library will be put on display until next month. You supply the building skills, we provide the legos! Registration not required.
Weather watch. Today begins a nice warm up to more seasonable and even warmer than seasonal temperatures over the next few days. According to the National Weather Service today will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 48. Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 29.
