When Does Town Election Filing Period Begin?

Town election filing period begins on Jan. 22.

Believe it or not, the filing period for the March 11 Town Election is coming up in just a few weeks.

According to Amherst Town Clerk Nancy Demurs, the filing period runs from Jan. 22 to Jan. 31. Here are the offices that will be decided in March:

  • 1 Selectman for 1 year
  • 1 Selectman for 3 years
  • 1 Moderator for 2 years
  • 1 Town Clerk for 3 years
  • 1 ZBA member for 3 years
  • 1 Trustee of the Trust Funds for 3 years
  • 1 Cemetery Trustee for 3 years
  • 2 Library Trustees for 3 years
  • 1 Supervisor of the Checklist for 6 Years
In an e-mail, Demurs wrote that "candidates shall file with the Town Clerk during regular business hours which are Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday night from 4:30P p.m. to 6:30 p.m. On January 31, the last day of the filing period, the office will be open until 5 p.m."
