BEDFORD, NH — Road construction delays, summer programs and efforts to attract police officers are ongoing in Bedford as we step into July. And lots of Fourth of July activities are offered in nearby towns this Thursday. Here are the top five things to know in Bedford for the upcoming week.

  1. Starting Monday, prepare for delays on Route 101 between Constitution Drive and Olde Bedford Way. That portion may be down to one lane at certain times, due to roadwork. The work is expected to continue through Wednesday, according to the Bedford Police Department. Drivers are asked to use caution.
  2. Camp Foster in Bedford is getting ready to unveil its newly renovated facilities to the kids, as its summer program for kids grades 2 through 8 begins July 8. Don’t forget to sign up!
  3. Fourth of July is almost here. Although Bedford may be rather quiet as far as festivities go, nearby towns communities have lots in store to celebrate America’s independence.
  4. Due to lack of certified instructors, there will be no swimming lessons offered at the Town Pool this summer. But check out other summer programs at the Bedford Parks and Recreation Department.
  5. Want to be a cop? The Bedford police have upped their incentives to attract more candidates to its force. The PD has seven vacancies and three potential candidates so far, according to a recent town manager report.
