MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police and fire were dispatched to the area of 780 North Commercial for a dead man that was located on Sunday.

The body was found near the riverbank in an area known as Eversource Energy Park, which is private property, just south of the Amoskeag Bridge area. The identity and age of the man have not been released, however, MPD Spokesperson Heather Hamel confirmed the person was a man.

Hamel said, at this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious. Sources confirmed to Patch the man was an adult.

Manchester police detectives processed the scene for evidence and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. Fire crews assisted in bringing the body to a stable area where he was then transported by a local funeral home to the Office of the NH Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

In August 2020 a body of a man was found in the same proximity, on the opposite side of the parking lot.

On April 24, human remains were found on the Rockingham Rail Trail near Candia Rd in Manchester. Those remains were later identified as Nancy Burgess, 51, a person who had been reported missing in 2015.

In December 2020, a 69-year-old woman was found deceased in the parking lot of a baseball field adjacent to the Rockingham Rail Trail. The manner and cause of death have not been released, and it is still under investigation by Manchester Police with the assistance of the NH Attorney Generals Office.
