Bedford's Superior State Representative Candidates
Pursuit of Public Service Distinguishes These Candidates
Two years ago, the citizens of Bedford voted overwhelmingly to send Sue Mullen to Concord, and Sue became Bedford's first Democratic State Representative since 1934.
In voting for Sue in 2018, Bedfordites recognized Sue's long service as a teacher and a counseling mentor to so many Bedford students. Sue now serves on the House Education Committee, where her 39 yr. career in the Bedford schools serve our Town and the State so well. Seeing her hard work and faithful representation of Bedford in the State House for the past two years, surely Bedford's voters will return Sue Mullen to the legislature in November.
We hope that Sue's example will encourage Bedford voters to be reflective when they vote for 6 additional State Rep. candidates in November.
In an era when some state representative candidates have avoided prior community service or are an are motivated by extremist ideology, there are excellent thoughtful Democratic candidates running to represent Bedford in Concord:

- Lisa Nash is a long time community leader, advocate, and volunteer in Bedford. She is the founder of the KidVote initiative that introduces students K-12 to the democratic process and is a two time Bedford βChampions for Childrenβ award winner for her work in the Bedford Schools. Lisa was recently selected for the Leadership New Hampshire class of 2021, a program that engages leaders from across the state in a comprehensive study of the communities, issues, and challenges in NH.
- Catherine Rombeau is a mom, an attorney, and a community leader. She is dedicated to public service, having served our town as an elected member of the Bedford Town Council.
- Shana Potvin is a leader in our Town. During her tenure on the Bedford Energy Commission, accomplishments include doubling the number of solar roofs in town through a Solar Up campaign and a renewable energy grant that funded the geothermal system for the Bedford Library. Aside from being a model of renewable energy, the libraryβs system saves thousands of dollars annually for Bedford taxpayers. Shana is the current Chair of the Bedford Democratic Committee and has served the community in several additional volunteer capacities.
- Emma Carole Paradis is a mom and the owner of a small business. Formerly a teacher, Emma was the NHIAA volleyball Coach of the Year. Emma is a leader in the long uphill battle to redress PFOA water pollution in Bedford. Recognizing her efforts and effectiveness, last year the Bedford Town Council appointed Emma to the Stateβs Commission on the Environmental and Public Health Impacts of PFOA Chemicals - a six-year commission appointment.
- Cheri Schmitt is an elementary school teacher, and an avid follower of politics. The Los Angeles Times wrote an article on Cheri's quest last year to meet each Democratic presidential candidate. Closer to home, Bedford citizens were able to read Cheri's incisive analysis of each candidate's strengths and weaknesses in her social media posts.
- Daniel Dong is the youngest candidate for State Representative. Daniel is a 2020 graduate of Bedford High School, and has been accepted into Dartmouth College. With Dartmouthβs approval, Daniel is taking a gap year to follow his keen interest in public affairs and run for State Representative.
With such thoughtful candidates running, we hope Bedford voters will take a closer than usual look at the choices for State Representative.
