MANCHESTER, N.H. - A little more than a week after Manchester Rescue crews were called to save a dog in a sewer pipe, they were called in to help an 11-year-old boy in a similar situation this afternoon.

According to Manchester Fire Dept. District Chief Jim Michael, crews responded to the area in a field behind Southside Middle School after someone reported a child trapped in a sewer pipe just after 5 p.m.

Chief Michael said the boy never fully got into the sewer pipe but got stuck in the protective grate.

"He got up to his waist and 'turtled' himself in there," he said. "So, we just cut the lock and let him out. Nothing got hurt, except his pride."

Chief Michael said there was a lacrosse practice going on nearby and someone heard the boy yelling for help.
