Cinco de Mayo: Margaritas, Music and Lots and Lots of Tacos
Tacos will take over downtown Manchester on Thursday, the eve of the holiday.
BEDFORD, NHβ Cinco de Mayo, a celebration of Mexicoβs victory against France in an 1862 battle, is a holiday also embraced within the U.S., as scores of people will enjoy the Mexican culture through food, music and drinks. The largest local celebration will take place on Thursday in Manchester.
The Hippo de Mayo Taco Challenge draws participants to almost 50 restaurants in downtown Manchester. Each location sells their taco creations for $2, and visitors cast votes for their favorite.
The event, hosted by Hippo, drew around 20,000 people last year. This year marks the seventh year for the occasion, which brings visitors into downtown Manchester, supports area restaurants, and raises money for local charities.

The taco tour takes place on Thursday, May 4th from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. More details and tour maps can be found on the Hippo de Mayo website.
