BEDFORD, NH - The body of a Manchester boy has been recovered in North Carolina after he was swept out to sea last week.

According to Kittyhawk Police Chief Joel C. Johnson, the body of Wesley Belisle was located by the Currituck County Sheriff's Office on Carova Beach in Currituck County this morning at 7:40 a.m.

In a Facebook post, Chief Johnson said Belisle's family had been notified and are making arrangements for him to be transported back to New Hampshire.

"We hope that the outpouring of compassion and offers of support, thoughts and prayers to the Belisle family from people all over the world can bring them some amount of solace in this time of tremendous grief," he wrote.

Last week, Chief Johnson told reporters the boy and his family were vacationing at the Outer Banks and was standing in ankle deep water when a rogue wave knocked him over. A second wave swept him away from his mother, he said.
