Teenager Drowns At Sebbins Pond In Bedford On Sunday

A swimmer, using a rope swing, went into the water and did not resurface. Nashua firefighters, others spent 2 hours searching for the teen.

BEDFORD, NH — Bedford fire, and police were notified on Sunday of a teenager who witnesses say was using a rope swing on Sebbins Pond, went underwater, and did not resurface.

Crews were notified and dispatched at around 7 p.m. Upon arrival, Bedford police entered the water attempting to locate the swimmer and were unsuccessful.

Bedford fire arrived launching boats while other crews worked shorelines searching for the missing person. Nashua Fire Rescue was requested to respond with its dive team. New Hampshire Fish and Game Fish and Game and Marine Patrol also responded to the scene.

The divers searched the area where witnesses say the person went into the water.

According to sources, the water in the area is about 15 feet deep but is very muddy and visibility in the water is poor.

Three boats of firefighters used flashlights as it became dark and divers continued to search the water.

At about 9:o5 p,m. the victim's body was found and removed from the water. Bedford police confirm the teenage male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

NH Marine Patrol and Bedford Police are investigating the incident. The exact age of the victim and name have not been released by officials at this time.
