Downed Tree Closes Route 101 In Bedford Friday Morning
Route 101 was closed for about an hour as the tree was removed, while wind damage knocked out power to communities throughout New Hampshire.
BEDFORD, NH — Route 101 in Bedford was closed near the Amherst town line for nearly an hour Friday morning as crews worked to remove a downed tree from heavy overnight winds. The road was closed about 9 a.m. and reopened shortly before 10.
Gusts of up to 55 miles per hour left about 25,000 Granite State utility customers without power. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Friday morning, warning of gusts in the wake of a cold front. The wind is expected to stay strong until early evening.
As of 9 a.m., Eversource was reporting the most customers without power, nearly 21,000, including more than 3,600 in Windham. New London is reporting nearly 2,800 without power with Sutton at 974. Smaller outages are being reported in Bedford, Canterbury, Derry, Hopkinton, Hudson, Londonderry, Loudon, Pelham and Nashua.
