Homeless Camps Cleared Out Along Merrimack River
New Hampshire State Police and the Department of Transportation cleared out homeless camps Thursday along the Merrimack River in Manchester
MANCHESTER, N.H. - New Hampshire State Police and the Department of Transportation cleared out homeless camps Thursday along the Merrimack River in Manchester, telling homeless people to move on. According to WMUR, officials placed signs along the river alerting residents that personal property would be removed.
Officials with the DOT declined an on-camera interview, but said they are "trying to ensure a safe right-of-way for motorists." Officials said they are working with homeless outreach advocates to ensure that those affected have had time to collect their belongings.
Advocates like those at Families in Transition-New Horizons said they are working to get people a safe place to live.
