Homeless Man Suspected of Sharing Contaminated Needles
A Manchester homeless man is at the center of a health scare after he allegedly shared needles with other in Hillsborough County.
MANCHESTER, N.H. - A Manchester homeless man is at the center of a health scare after he allegedly shared needles with other in Hillsborough County. According to WMUR, Hillsborough County Health officials the man was recently diagnosed with HIV.
The Division of Public Health Services is working with the city of Manchester to determine who might have shared needles with the person.
Officials said 46 people have been diagnosed with HIV from January 2017 to last month. Eleven of them reported injecting drugs, and a majority lived in Hillsborough County at the time they were diagnosed.

"So, about 1 in 4 new HIV infections in New Hampshire reported to us in the last year have reported injection drug use," said Beth Daly, chief of the Bureau of Infectious Disease Control. "This is an increase over the last few years."
