MANCHESTER, NH — Police have arrested a man charged with murdering his girlfriend, Jennifer Burpee of Manchester, earlier this week. Damien Seace, 35, was arrested Tuesday on alternate counts of knowing and reckless second-degree murder stating he killed Burpee by blunt force trauma with a piece of furniture, according to the Attorney General's Office. Burpee, 45, was killed at her apartment at 55 Amory St. in Manchester Tuesday.

Police responded to the home after Burpee called 911, stating "Damien" was pounding at her door. When officers arrived, they found Burpee dead in the apartment, and Seace was hiding in the bathroom, according to the Attorney General's Office. Court records list Seace as being homeless, according to Attorney General's Office Director of Communications Kate Spiner.

The New Hampshire Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy on Burpee's body Thursday. Anyone with further information about this incident, or who was in the area of 55 Amory St. Tuesday between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. is asked to call the Manchester Police Department Detective Unit at 603-668-8711.
