Manchester Police To Hold 'Citizen Academy'
The Manchester Police Department invites citizens to an eight-week academy to learn about what police officers of Manchester do daily.
MANCHESTER, NH — The Manchester Police Department invites residents to an eight-week Citizen Academy that begins Sept. 18. During the program, citizens will learn about all facets of the Police Department, to get a glimpse of what their local police do on a day-to-day basis. The classes will take place Wednesdays 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Citizen Academy will combine classroom time with demonstrations and some limited participation if desired.
"Upon your acceptance into the program, you can expect an informative session examining all the duties of the Manchester Police Department," according to Manchester police. "Additionally, you will be exposed to the glamour and excitement you associate with police work, along with the processes that are less glamorous but vital to the day to day operation of this agency."

Manchester police state they hope the academy will expose citizens to police work, and also encourage them to find an area of interest and volunteer in the community.
Police in Manchester are also hiring new officers. They have released a recruitment video and are planning a police officer exam for those interested in becoming a Manchester police officer. The deadline to apply for the police officer exam is Monday, Aug. 19.
