MANCHESTER, NH — Bridge Street in Manchester is closed throughout the day Wednesday as officials prepare for the Fourth of July fireworks display. Drivers are asked to avoid the Bridge Street area from 8 a.m. Wednesday through midnight. Police ask that drivers instead use Amoskeag Bridge, the Granite Street Bridge and the Queencity Bridge as viable options for traveling east or west across the Merrimack River. Police also noted that the Granite Street Bridge will likely have a noticeable increase in traffic due to the event and should probably be avoided as well.

The Manchester Independence Day celebrations are taking place Wednesday evening, with a performance at 10 Arms St. starting at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks.
