Bedford High School senior Grant Lavinge was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the first round of the 2018 draft.

BEDFORD, NH — Grant Lavigne, the pride of Bedford High School, was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft last week. The 18-year-old Lavigne, a senior, was taken Monday in the first round with the 42nd overall pick. He was the only New Hampshire player selected.
Lavigne is a left-hand-hitting first baseman and stands 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 230 pounds. He has "serious raw power" at the plate, according to mlb.com. The teenager is vying to become the first hitter drafted from a New Hampshire high school to make it to the majors.
On Thursday, Lavigne knocked in the game-winning run in Bedford High School's playoff win over Concord High School, according to the Concord Monitor. Lavinge's squad will face Exeter High School Monday night for the Division 1 state championship.
