New Hampshire's Grant Lavigne was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the first round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.

BEDFORD, NH — New Hampshire baseball star Grant Lavigne on Tuesday signed a $2 million contract with the Colorado Rockies. Lavigne, 18, of Bedford High School, was drafted by the Rockies in the first round of this month's Major League Baseball Draft. He was the only New Hampshire player selected.
"I am humbled and grateful," Lavigne tweeted. "It’s an honor to wear a Rockies uniform, and I guarantee my best effort every single day. I’ll be relentless."
Lavigne, who committed to Wake Forest, is a left-hand-hitting first baseman and stands 6 feet 4 inches and weighs 230 pounds. He has "serious raw power" at the plate, according to mlb.com. The teenager is vying to become the first hitter drafted from a New Hampshire high school to make it to the majors.
