Obituary: Marion Marie Brown MacDonald

30-year Bedford resident lost 35-year-battle with MS.

Marion Marie Brown MacDonald of Naples, FL died on August 13, 2013 after a 35 year battle with MS. She was born on June 16, 1930, the oldest daughter of Lovett and Jennie (Hardwick) Brown, in Clementsport, Nova Scotia.

Marion attended public school in Bear River, NS, Oakdene High School, and attended the Windsor School of Nursing, Windsor, NS. She was a lifetime member of the Elliot Hospital Associates, a strong supporter of the New Hampshire Symphony Guild and a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth Seton for 30 years. Friends and family will remember how Marion loved to entertain and host fabulous dinner parties at her home. Also a gifted artist, Marion stenciled jewelry boxes and furniture for her daughters.

Despite not having an athletic bone in her body, Marion took up skiing in her thirties just so she could ski with her family. She was a loving grandmother who gave butterfly kisses and made dinosaur cookies. She enjoyed traveling and sailing trips with friends and family even though she never learned to swim. Marion and her husband Lewis welcomed many relatives into their home sometimes for a night or weekend other times for a year. Her love for her husband was a mighty force and their bond will be forever a source of comfort to their daughters. Her fighting spirit will be forever remembered by her large and loving family.
