Officers And Family Honor Investigator Moher Killed In Shooting
A somber graveside memorial ceremony on Friday marked the 100th anniversary of the Manchester gun battle that killed William Moher.
MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Police Officers And Family Honored MPD Investigator William M. Moher on the 100th anniversary of his line of duty death.
Moher served 23 years with the Manchester Police Department when he was killed in the line of duty. He died after chasing a robbery suspect, Oscar Richard, on July 2, 1921, in the Queen City, who stole jewelry from a Manchester pawn shop.
A gunfight ensued on Willow Street and Moher was hit in his abdomen by a bullet. He died following surgery. Richard also died in the incident after being hit five times.

Officers, and family gathered in the pouring rain and honored his legacy and service at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in Manchester.
Members of Manchester police, past and present, saluted at his gravesite. Relatives of Moher placed a wreath on his grave as officers saluted.
