Road Closures In Manchester Ahead of President Trump's Rally

In anticipation of President Donald Trump's rally on Thursday, "significant road closures" are expected in Manchester.

MANCHESTER, NH — Several roads will be closed Thursday in anticipation of large crowds arriving to downtown Manchester for President Donald Trump's rally. The rally is planned for 7 p.m. at Southern New Hampshire University, and former Vice President Joe Biden will hold a counter rally at 6 p.m. at Portland Pie Company down the road. According to the Manchester police, "significant road closures" will be in effect Thursday afternoon into the evening.

Starting at 2 p.m., Elm Street will be closed to traffic between Central and Auburn streets. Elm Street access between Auburn and Valley streets will be for local business traffic only, according to police.

Lake Avenue will be closed to traffic between Central and Auburn streets. Granite Street will be closed between Elm Street and Canal Street, with parking garage access at the Doubletreet hotel coming from Granite Street eastbound.

"No parking" restrictions will be enforced on all posted roads, and vehicles may be towed if they are found to be in violation.

Manchester police say that additional road closures may be possible as the day progresses, per needs of the Secret Service. Intermittent closures are expected for the Presidential Motorcade at the beginning and closing of the rally, police say.

Barricades will be set up in and around the Southern New Hampshire University arena to mark areas restricted to law enforcement.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.
