Shots Fired When U.S. Marshals Attempt To Serve Federal Warrant

U.S. Marshals and Manchester police were shot at from a Union Street home on Wednesday. Police have an active shelter in place order.

MANCHESTER, NH — U.S. Marshals were attempting to serve a federal warrant at a Union Street home but when they arrived on Wednesday, shots were fired from inside the house.

Police Chief Allen Aldenberg said officers were notified at about 7:45 a.m. of the shots fired and several units responded. Police took control of the scene and the suspect fired an additional 5 rounds from inside the house. Aldenberg said no one from U.S. Marshals or Manchester Police Department was injured in the incident. No police returned fire at the suspect, he added.

MPD S.W.A.T. team arrived and a perimeter has been set up around the house, and they are attempting to negotiate with the suspect. Manchester Fire and AMR ambulance were requested to stage away from the scene if needed. The regional command vehicle has been set up on Whitford Street to use as a central coordination point.

Agencies on the scene include Manchester police, Nashua police, Hillsborough County Sheriffs, and U.S. Marshals.

Several blocks surrounding the area are closed to traffic, and people are urged to stay away from the area.

The home was the same location as a double-shooting in July 2020.
