Soups on! Empty Bowls Fundraising Event for New Horizons Program
Event Features Soup from Nearly 20 Local Restaurants
Manchester, NH - Nothing welcomes fall like a bowl of hot soup. To those facing food insecurity in the City of Manchester a full bowl can be hard to come by. βEmpty Bowlsβ is an international project to fight hunger. On Sunday, October 14, Families in Transition-New Horizons will host its 16th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser which will benefit the New Horizons programs.
This years Empty Bowls event, on October 14, will be held at Brookside Congregational Church, 2013 Elm Street, Manchester, NH, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. NH Potters Guild members make and donate ceramic soup bowls. For $25, guests choose a handmade bowl and sample soups donated by nearly 20 local restaurants. Patrons keep the bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls there are in our city each and every day. Last year, more than 350 people attended and more than $10,000 was raised to help fund the needs of the organizations soup kitchen, food pantry and homeless shelter. Child bowls painted by children from Brookside Church and Families in Transition-New Horizons kids are available for $5. Pints to-go are sold, as available, during the last half hour of the event for $5.
Seating will be offered outside this year to enjoy hot soup on a cool fall day on the beautiful outdoor grounds of the church. Bowls may be pre-bought online at www.newhorizonsnh.org/events or attendees can simply show up.
