Southern NH Medical Chair Named American Gastroenterologic Fellow

The Chair of Medicine at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Dr. Michael Kaczanowski was named Fellow of the American Gastroenterology

BEDFORD, NH - The Chair of Medicine at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Dr. Michael Kaczanowski has been named Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the nation’s oldest medical society dedicated to disorders of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Through the fellowship program, the AGA honors superior professional achievement in clinical private or academic practice and in basic or clinical research. Fellowships are awarded to AGA members whose accomplishments and contributions demonstrate personal commitment to the field of gastroenterology.

The mission of the AGA is to promote the science and practice of gastroenterology through the support of research, education, advocacy and practice.

“AGA acknowledges our members with superior professional achievement in the field of gastroenterology with fellowship within our organization,” said Michael Camilleri, MD, AGAF, AGA Institute President. “We are proud to announce the 2017 inductees for the AGA Fellowship program who have been recognized by their peers and community as being at the forefront of our field.”

Dr. Kaczanowski is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has served the greater Nashua community for the past three years. He received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada and completed his residency at Norwalk Hospital, Yale University teaching affiliate, Norwalk, CT. There he held the position of Chief Medical Resident and completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Dr. Kaczanowski has published on the use of wireless capsule endoscopy for the diagnosis of small bowel neoplasms and his area of special interest is in the detection of colon cancer, esophageal disease, and swallowing disorders. In addition to his practice, Dr. Kaczanowski serves on several committees and as the Chair of Medicine at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
