Threat Directed At Bedford Schools

Students at Bedford High School and Lurgio Middle School were dismissed after a threatening note was discovered.

BEDFORD, NH — A threatening note was directed at Bedford schools Monday morning, forcing officials to dismiss students early. The note was sent to the Bedford High School administration at about 10 a.m. and threatened "harm at a specified period of time," according to Superintendent Michael Fournier. Students at the high school and Lurgio Middle School were dismissed as a precaution.

"Our top priority is student safety followed by accurate parent communication," Fournier wrote in a letter to parents. "It is important to reiterate that our community is our best and most effective resource in (combating) events such as these. Please speak with your student about 'see something/say something' so that our schools can continue to be safe and secure."

Police were notified; no arrests were announced as of Monday afternoon.
