Tip Helps Police Apprehend Teen Car Thieves

Four suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday morning.

A tip from the public helped police apprehend four teens wanted in connection with a car theft on Wednesday morning.

Around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, Bedford Police alerted Merrimack Police that they were attempting to stop a stolen pickup truck from Manchester on Daniel Webster Highway. Merrimack Police made contact with the truck, a 2005 Nissan Frontier, on Daniel Webster Highway near Baboosic Lake Road. The driver of the truck abandoned the vehicle near Connell’s Shopping Plaza. Bedford Police and Merrimack Police arrested two teenage males at the scene, but two other teens fled the area.

Merrimack Police, Bedford Police, and New Hampshire State Police began to search the area for the other two teenage males that fled the scene. Merrimack Police alerted residents of the description of the teens who fled using the Nixle Alert System. Police received a few phone calls from residents that updated the whereabouts of the teens. Police shifted their manpower into these areas.

Ultimately, a resident from Webster Green Condominium complex who had seen the Nixle alert found the two teens near his residence. He then alerted nearby officers, who took the last two teenage males into custody at 7:10 a.m.

The teens arrested were between the ages of 14 and 16 years old. The driver of the stolen truck faces charges of receiving stolen property, disobeying a police officer, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana. The other teens were charged with resisting arrest and receiving stolen property.
