Nashua Man Cited After Crashing Into Bedford Toll Booth
Nicholas Matthews of Nashua was cited by New Hampshire State Police for reckless operation Monday after driving into the toll plaza.
BEDFORD, NH — New Hampshire State Police and Bedford firefighters were called to a vehicle crash at the Bedford toll plaza on Monday.
At just before 9 a.m., officials were told a vehicle was traveling north and struck a cement abutment preventing it from hitting the occupied toll booth. The driver was evaluated by Bedford fire personnel and refused medical treatment.
State police identified the driver as Nicholas Matthews, 31, of Nashua. He was cited for reckless operation.

NH DOT provided traffic detours from the damaged lane for about 1-hour while the scene was cleaned up and the vehicle removed by Lewis Towing.
Moments after the initial crash occurred, it was reported that a tractor-trailer carrying a wide-load made contact with the cement abutment in another lane of the toll plaza.
