Verani's Bedford Agents Raise $3,000+ for Habitat for Humanity

Friends and colleagues of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty’s (Verani) Bedford office came together for a festive “Cocktails, Charity and Cheer” event to support Greater Manchester Habitat for Humanity. The inaugural fundraiser, part of a month-long give-a-thon by Verani’s philanthropic and social development initiative, VeraniCARES, provided a lively way for those involved in the real estate industry to take time to give back to families in need of affordable housing.

Attendees were treated to a catered spread of appetizers and cocktails and took part in an auction that included a football autographed by New England Patriots player Julian Edelman and a basketball signed by Celtics legend Larry Bird. Between the auction and a 50/50 cash raffle more than $3,100 was raised for Greater Manchester Habitat for Humanity. The donation will support the organization’s ongoing construction efforts at their Lowell Street property in Manchester.

VeraniCARES is funded by Verani agents and staff, who have the option of donating to VeraniCARES by either payroll deduction or from sales commissions, and Verani will match up to $10 per donation. VeraniCARES is supporting many community and charitable initiatives across New Hampshire and Massachusetts during the month of May as part of its May Day campaign, which dispersed more than $40,000 to those in need through nonprofits.

“People in the real estate industry are always looking to make connections with the community, so this seemed like a great opportunity to bring everyone together for a great cause,” said Cammie Ferreras, Regional Manager of Verani’s Bedford office. “The work Habitat is doing in and around Manchester was a perfect match for our VeraniCARES May Day event, and we couldn’t be happier about how many sponsors and community businesses helped us make this event something special.”

Greater Manchester Habitat for Humanity works with local people and businesses to assist people in need by building and renovating houses, which are then sold to partner families at no profit with affordable financing. Habitat homeowners invest “sweat equity” by helping to build their home as well as other Habitat homes alongside volunteers. Greater Manchester Habitat is a locally-run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and serves Auburn, Bedford, Candia, Derry, Hooksett, Litchfield, Londonderry and Manchester.
