6-Year-Old Dies After Being Found In River After 3-Hour Search

A boy wading in the river with an adult at a boat ramp in the Salmon Falls River in Rollinsford went missing Saturday and died later.

ROLLINSFORD, NH — At 2:07 p.m. Saturday, New Hampshire State Police-Marine Patrol dispatch received a call reporting a missing child who had been wading with an adult in the Salmon Falls River in Rollinsford near the boat launch.

Multiple agencies responded including NHSP – Marine Patrol, NHSP – Troop A, NHSP – Air Unit, NH Fish and Game, Rollinsford Police and Fire Departments, Strafford County Sheriff's Department, and the Durham Fire Department.

Shoreline and water searches were performed. At approximately 4:42 p.m., NH Fish and Game divers located the 6-year old male victim. He was transported to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and flown to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Two other people also drowned in New Hamphire over the weekend including a 21-year-old and a 27-year-old in Canterbury.
