BBQ Month Kicks off With Chicken Sale at Vernon Family Farm

NEWFIELDS__A national chicken shortage has been in the news, but there is plenty of locally produced chicken available at the Vernon Family Farm store.

Customers can stock up on chicken during the farm store’s blow-out sale on their non-GMO pasture-raised chicken this month. Single package purchases will have a 15% discount, while 10-pound bulk purchases receive a 30% discount. The sale will continue while supplies last and is being held in conjunction with National Barbecue Month. The chicken on sale is both USDA-inspected and Halal certified.

May is National Barbecue Month a time when people are encouraged to break out their special recipes and cook on their grills of all times, charcoal, wood or gas.

“With the weather warming up, more people are firing up their grills for outdoor cooking,” said Nicole Vernon, who owns the farm with her husband Jeremiah. “Our chickens are an ideal cut of meal to grill and if you’re looking for recipe ideas, we have a selection of custom spice blends from Stock and Spice as well as locally crafted barbecue sauces in our farm store.”

The farm’s Cornish cross chicks arrive on a routine basis from a Pennsylvania hatchery during the pastured poultry season. The new season of chicken will be available for purchase mid-June. Take advantage of the current sale before prices increase in June with the new season. The Vernon Farm CSA card does not apply to the sale.
