Boy Accidentally Shoots Uncle While Hunting Chipmunks: Milton PD

Police said the 8-year-old boy killed a chipmunk, but his bullet ricocheted and struck his uncle in the head.

MILTON, NH — An 8-year-old boy accidentally shot his 32-year-old uncle in the head Friday while they were hunting chipmunks in Milton, according to police.

Emergency officials were called to the 100th block of Bolan Road around 11:30 a.m., following the incident. According to police, the boy shot and killed a chipmunk, but the bullet ricocheted and stuck his uncle in the head.

Police said the man was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and is expected to recover.

Milton police said the incident is being investigated as an accident, and no further information will be released. The New Hampshire Fish & Game Department assisted police in the investigation.
