Demonstration Planned In Epping As Part of Proposed Gas Pipeline

A liquefied natural gas pipeline is proposed between Exeter and Manchester, and Liberty Utilities will demonstrate how it works.

EPPING, NH — Londonderry-based Liberty Utilities is proposing to build a liquefied natural gas pipeline (LNG) that will link existing pipelines of Exeter and Manchester. Next week, the company will hold a public event to demonstrate the safety of LNG. The event will be held in Epping, where the company plans to have an LNG storage facility at an abandoned quarry.

The event will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at the Epping Middle School gymnasium. An open house for the project will start at 4 p.m. and the live demonstration will be held at 6 p.m. The demonstration will be conducted by LNG expert Erik Neandross, who will use a physical sample of LNG and natural gas to showcase LNG's inherent safety, according to Liberty Utilities.

The project is part of Granite Bridge, a natural gas pipeline designed to meet New Hampshire's growing energy needs, Liberty Utilities officials stated. The pipeline will be constructed between Exeter and Manchester along the New Hampshire Department of Transportation's right-of-way along Route 101, a state-designated energy infrastructure corridor.
