Exeter Area YMCA Construction Continues on Schedule
Exterior walls are now being installed at the Southern District YMCA.

Construction of the Exeter Area YMCA has continued in spite of the snow and is still on schedule to open this fall, according to a press statement.
According to Wayne Blais, the project superintendent of Jewett Construction Co., Inc., “Working through all the snow during the past months has been challenging of course, but we have a great crew working on this project. Every day we strive for the absolute best and the project is really looking great!”
With the frame of the building complete, significant progress has been made with the roof, subfloor and decking for the indoor track. Workers began to put exterior walls into place on Feb. 27.

After a recent walk-through at the site, Rob McGregor, Southern District YMCA executive director, commented, “It’s an exciting time because it’s no longer just a vision or a plan on paper. Members of the community can really start to see the facility taking shape. We’re looking forward to hearing from community members about how they plan to use the facility and sharing programming ideas.”
There are many ways to support the YMCA: Subscribe to the Community Connection e-newsletter, make a financial contribution or volunteer. Currently, the Y is seeking volunteers for advisory committees. These volunteers will provide feedback in the areas of marketing, programming, membership and more.
