Exeter Conservation Commission Announces Upcoming Events
Check out the Exeter Conservation Commission events coming up in April and May.
EXETER, NH - The Exeter Conservation Commission would like to invite the public to celebrate the start of spring by joining them at any of these upcoming events.
Earth Day Celebration: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., April 21. Celebrate Earth Day by giving back to our local parks. Exeter Parks and Recreation is hosting a “Picking the Park” clean up day. Email Greg Bisson at gbisson@exeternh.gov for more information or to sign up.
Raynes Farm Woodcock Walk: 7 p.m., April 27. Join the commission as the sunsets for refreshments and a presentation on the American woodcock in the historic Raynes Barn followed by a field walk to view the unique mating flight of these curious birds.

World Fish Migration Day Celebration: Dam Removal Walk: 10 a.m., April 28. The commission is hosting representatives from NOAA and NH Fish and Game at Founders Park on a walking tour and discussion about Exeter’s dam removal process.
World Fish Migration Day Celebration: Fish Ladder Tour: 11:30 a.m., April 28. The commission is hosting representatives from NOAA and NH Fish and Game at Pickpocket Dam at the junction of Powdermill and Cross Road for a tour of the fish ladder. Get an up close and personal look at some of the fish that call the Exeter River their home.

Vernal Pool Hike: 2 p.m., May 5. The commission has teamed up with the Forest Ridge Homeowners Association and NH Fish and Game biologist Brendan Clifford for a vernal pool educational hike. They will meet between 10 and 12 Woodridge Lane and hike to nearby vernal pools to learn about these seasonal pools and the wildlife that depend on them.
The commission also conducting its “Spring Rain Barrel Sale.” Visit www.greatamericanrainbarrel.com and choose Exeter New Hampshire under Community Programs. Orders must be placed by April 30. Participants will pick up their orders at Exeter Public Works Department on May 5 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
