Exeter Students Place In National Spanish Exams
Several Exeter High School students have placed in nationals on their Spanish exams.
EXETER, NH — Several Exeter High School students demonstrated their knowledge of Spanish by placing high on the national Spanish examinations this year. Students from the school took the exam in Levels 2, 3 and 4, and earned a total of four gold, eight silver, and 11 bronze medals, and 38 honorable mentions, school officials say. Spanish teacher Jennifer Delorie said their skills make them marketable for future employment.
"Students from Exeter High School have a long history of high achievement on these exams, which speaks not only to our program at EHS, but also to the students' interest level and dedication to learning the language," said Delorie in a statement. "Becoming proficient in a foreign language is no easy task — it takes perseverance and hard work, so those who have accomplished this have achieved an extremely marketable skill."
This year more than 146,000 students nationwide took one of the Spanish exams, administered to grades six through 12 by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. At Exeter High School, teachers that helped their students prepare for the exam included Delorie, Kathy Bean, Kate LaPia and Nicole Vernon.
