STRATHAM......on Monday, March 8, 202l, the Stratham Historical Society, jointly with the Wiggin Memorial Library will host a program by Jeff Warner, made possible thru a grant from New Hampshire Humanities. The program, a Zoom event is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and is titled "Range the Wild Woods Over: Loggers' Songs and Stories".

Loggers at the turn of the twentieth century cut the timber that built and warmed our houses and provided the ties for America's ever-expanding railroads. Timber established Portsmouth, Portland and Bangor as important ports, sending New England lumber around the world. Folklorist Jeff Warner relates the songs and stories of the people who worked the wintry woods, showing their humor and their grit, and giving us a glimpse into everyday life in long ago lumber camps. Mr. Warner has performed widely, from large festivals in the U.K., to clubs, festivals and schools across America. He plays concertina, banjo, guitar, and several "pocket" instruments, including bones and spoons. Mr. Warner is a folklorist and community scholar for the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

There are fifty (50) spaces available for the Zoom presentation. Registration is required for this event, which is free and open to the public. To register, please use the following link:
