Man Seriously Hurt In 3-Vehicle Crash In Raymond

A Raymond man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 107 involving a dump truck, a Jeep and a Toyota.

RAYMOND, NH — A man was seriously hurt Thursday in a three-vehicle collision on Route 107 in Raymond. The accident, reported just before 2 p.m., involved a dump truck, a Toyota and a Jeep. Police say one of the drivers may have been distracted just before the collision.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, the accident occurred in the area of Lilac Lane in Raymond, as a 32-year-old Epping woman with an infant in the back seat was driving a Jeep Cherokee south on Route 107. The Jeep rear-ended a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 41-year-old Raymond man, pushing the Toyota into the northbound lane. At that time, a 60-year-old man from Sandown was driving a Sterling dump truck north on Route 107. The truck collided with the Toyota that had been pushed into its lane, police say.

The Raymond resident driving the Toyota was transported to Eliot Hospital in Manchester with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, according to the State Police. No one else involved in the crash — neither the infant nor the other two drivers — appeared to be injured, police say.

The initial police investigation indicates that the woman driving the Jeep was momentarily distracted just before rear-ending the Toyota, according to the State Police. However, police noted that all aspects of the collision remain under investigation.

Route 107 in the area of Lilac Lane was closed to traffic for about four hours Thursday afternoon as law enforcement officials investigated the scene. Due to the seriousness of the crash, Raymond police requested that the investigation be handled by the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit. Assisting the CAR unit on scene Thursday were members of State Police Troop A and Troop G, as well as the Raymond Police, Fire and EMS departments.
