Multiple Fractures To Child Arms Lead To Police Investigation
Haylee Bernier, 19, of Rochester, was accused of first-degree assault of her 1-year-old, after the child was brought to a Boston hospital.

ROCHESTER, NH — Rochester police were notified on Feb. 1 that a 1-year-old child from Rochester was at Mass. General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Detectives responded to the hospital to begin their investigation after being notified by the Division of Children, Youth, and Family Services. Detectives were made aware the child had multiple fractures to both arms and the fractures appeared to be suspicious in nature.
Detectives said they determined through their investigation the injuries were caused by Haylee Bernier, 19, the child's mother, according to a report.

On Thursday, police arrested Bernier on a first-degree assault charge.
Bernier was released on personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned on a date to be determined in Strafford County Superior Court. As a result of the incident, Bernier does not have custody of the child at this time.

Police say due to the age of the child and the sensitive nature of the case, no other information will released at this time.
