Newmarket's Possible Motive To Remove Principal Chris Mazzone?

Did Principal Mazzone Manufacture An Unsafe And Dangerous Situation?

Good morning Newmarket citizens,

The Newmarket School District (Susan Givens, Mike Kenison, and attorney Barbara Loughman) are involved in a massive cover-up concerning what actually took place with former Principal, Chris Mazzone.

These bums held secret meetings concerning Mazzone’s removal and rehiring and are preventing the inspection of any and all public documents surrounding what took place with Mazzone. These actions by Newmarket are unacceptable.

Through my diligent efforts, however, I have uncovered what I believe was the likely reason Mazzone was finally removed.

According to a November 5th, 2019 Newmarket police report, police were dispatched to the Jr./Sr. High school at approximately 4 P.M. for a report of suspicious activity filed by principal Mazzone. The report states Mazzone contacted the police to report male loitering behind one of the sheds in the parking lot, “holding some type of object.”

When the police arrived at the school, they found Mr. Mazzone in the foyer of the school with a juvenile male. Mazzone asked the juvenile to explain to the police what he had been doing. The juvenile informed the police that he had been holding his cell phone in a way that made it appear as if it were a handgun and he was pointing it at the school.

Mazzone next directed the student to show the police the app he had been using on his cell phone while pointing his cell phone at the school, which the student did. The app made sounds of gun shells loading and gunfire.

Mazzone acknowledged to the police that while he did not believe the student meant to be alarming, “it was very alarming in this day and age.” Mazzone reiterated how such behavior has to be taken seriously, as some shooters in the past have done “practice runs” before launching their actual attacks.

Principal Mazzone informed police that he had first seen the child from his office window, stating he had noticed someone who was hiding behind the shed and appeared to be pointing something at the building while using the shed as cover. Mazzone indicated to police that he did not immediately recognize who it was, and called the police before heading outside to confront the person.

After the child left with his mother (she was called to the scene by Mazzone), Mazzone explained to the police how the child’s behavior, with sounds, could have caused someone to believe he (the child) had a gun or was rehearsing a shooting. Mazzone also expressed concern about the possible panic this could have caused, as well as how the response from police could have been, had it been reported as a person with a gun.

Analysis:

So, how could any of Mazzone’s actions on this day result in his removal as principal? Where do I begin?

Mazzone calls the Newmarket police department and reports suspicious activity at the school, informing police someone he does not recognize is hiding behind a school shed holding an unidentified object. Then, prior to the police arriving, Mazzone proceeds to go outside to confront this unknown person holding an unidentified object all by himself.

A logical question arises from the actions of Mazzone described above: If Mazzone really believed the unknown person, pointing an unknown object at the school, actually posed a serious threat, why would Mazzone go outside to confront this person prior to the police arrival? Wouldn't it have been better for Mazzone to secure the building, protecting himself and anyone and everyone who may have still been in the building?

When the police do arrive at the school, Mazzone is found by the police in the Foyer with the student. How did the child enter the building? Did Mazzone make a citizen’s arrest of the child? Did Mazzone have the right to detain the child? Did Mazzone violate the child’s rights? Will the child’s mother sue the school district over what took place?

The actions of principal Mazzone on November 5th, 2019 were, in my humble opinion, reckless and dangerous, and I do not believe for one moment Mazzone did not know who the child was, and I do not believe Mazzone ever felt endangered.

What if the police arrived in response to Mazzone’s report in full tactical gear with weapons drawn and someone was hurt? Clearly, this was a distinct possibility.

Was the above incident responsible for Mazzone’s removal? I do not know. What we do know is that Mazzone was removed from his position just four days after this incident, and in my opinion, he absolutely should have been.

I am glad the child was not harmed, but I do hope the parents of the student file a lawsuit against the district for Mazzone’s actions which I believe deliberately targeted the student.
